While Giannis Antetokounmpo and his Milwaukee Bucks’ season is over, that doesn’t mean his kick game will end. In fact, his first signature shoe will be releasing this June, so we have a whole summer to look forward to the impending release of his Nike Zoom Freak 1.
Unfortunately Nike assumed that Giannis and the Milwaukee Bucks would make the NBA Finals and would be set to officially debut the sneaker as the Bucks and Warriors hit the floor in a best of seven game series. That very obviously did not pan out as expected, as the Raptors protected home court in Game 1 of the NBA Finals vs the Golden State Warriors last night.
While we have previously seen images surface of the Greek Freak’s first signature shoe, this is our best look yet at the Nike Zoom Freak 1. Beginning with the outsole is a story-telling traction pattern, paying homage to Giannis’ father who passed away. From previous leaks, rumors claim these will feature double stacked Zoom Air bags, while no word has yet to surface for the forefoot cushioning. A basic mesh makes up the upper, while a standard lacing enclosure, can be seen, with two flywire cables being intact. A large reversed Nike swoosh logo finishes off the shoe, being placed at the lateral midsole to cage the heel.
The Nike Zoom Freak 1 is slated for a Saturday, June 29th release date, with no word on pricing. Grab a First Look at this new gray colorway below, and be sure to keep it locked here for updates on the Greek Freak’s first signature sneaker with the swoosh.
