While we’re in the midst of 2019, a plethora of new models from Jordan Brand have leaked online, including the Zoom Zero Gravity, 2×3, and Chris Paul’s CP3.12. Adding on to these models includes the newly surfaced Jordan Jumpman Diamond Mid, and this is your first official look.
JB’s newest team model arrives sported in a what appears to be a herringbone sole, a likely full-length Phylon foam midsole, TPU heel caging that goes from the midfoot to cover the majority of the heel, and a textile mesh, with a canvas rear panel. Finishing off the shoes is a standard lacing enclosure. No word on whether or not there will be Zoom Air featured, but it may be a possibility if these are $125.
Jordan Brand appears to be moving in this radical design direction where they will be continuing to cage the foam of their shoe midsoles. Not only is this a bad idea to us at least, it just adds unnecessary weight and bulk to the shoe, while not providing much function to a Phylon foam that is already stable. The Jumpman Diamond’s have a ton of heel caging, as do the Zoom Zero Gravity. Not only is the added weight a negative, but the caging will also provide a lack of a smooth heel to toe transition, and will not allow the heel foam to maximally compress like uncaged set-ups would. Hopefully we see some other performance Jordan shoes besides the 2×3 receive uncaged heels.
The Jumpman Diamond Mid will be arriving to retailers this Summer for $125. Grab a First Look at the kicks down below, and check out the release details as well. Keep it locked here for updates on the Diamond’s, and share your thoughts on them in the comment section.
